You could spend years trying to figure out what makes a person tick and even then you may end up with more questions than answers. But sometimes you get lucky and a single conversation explains it all.
The following took place after I explained something very important in great detail. I assumed Jason had been paying attention and wanted to know his thoughts.
Whitney: So, what do you think?
[no response]
Whitney: Well?
Jason: Oh sorry. My mind is just in the gutter.
Whitney: The gutter?
Jason: Yeah, like I'm thinking of something else. My mind is in the gutter. Or is it the clouds?
And with that came the sad realization that either one works. Any doubt as to what drives my husband has been officially removed.
